Altered envelope /Art journal

Do you ever tire of the junk mail that clogs your mailbox daily? This class will recycle some of the envelopes that come through the mail each day. Each student will be provided with 8-10 envelopes. (The embellishments and paint used will be green and brown.) Bring 10-12 pieces of your favorite patterned paper. We will use paint, ink, paper, and gel medium to alter the envelopes and create a mini-art journal.  The album will document a week in your life.  Save receipts, notes, to-do lists, photos, anything that helps tell the story of a week in your life. 

Each journal will be different, depending on your style, your photos, and the week you choose to document.

Baby Book In A Day

This class will enable you to include a month’s worth of photos on a two-page spread.  The calendar side includes journaling of the month’s events, quotes and happenings.  The photo side includes the monthly highlights in pictures.  This class will require homework on the part of the student: taking and printing a month’s worth of photos and taking daily notes to bring to class.

Birdbook Memory Album with Ms. Claire Hampton of Hampton Arts

This cute ‘n classy bifold album has a multitude of uses: it can be a journal, a photo album, or a memorable gift for a special occasion such as graduation. Claire will utilize different inks, artists’ materials (such as gesso, possibly paint) to create dimensional backgrounds.

Covers and back are cut from matboard, a surface which readily accepts all types of media. We will use ephemera, embellishments, brads, eyelets, ribbon (of course!), buttons and the Bind It All! 

We recommend that students bring some favorite photographs and any particular embellishments that you favor or have hanging around and Claire can show you how to work them into your project!
