I loved Laura's suggestion of QuicKutz Quicke for a title to my blog posts! Thanks Laura, I will have some blog candy waiting for you at the store next time you come in.
Now that we have a name for my posts lets get started!
This week I am doing a tiny teaser about the Holiday Set! I get excited every time they come out with new gift sets. I get giddy with anticipation of what they have in store for us. Let me tell you now that they have continued to please me and I think you will agree. Now the release is not until November 3rd so I can not share exaclty what it is but I will tell you that there is one set and it includes an alphabet and many dies that will assist you during the gift giving season. There are also additional dies that will assist you with your gift making. I wish I could tell you more but I have been sworn to secrecy. To hold you over here is a little picture that might help you out...or not. :) These boxes contain all the wonderful goodies ;)

Don't forget about the Card Swap and the Medical Die Contest in November. Call the store if you have any questions or to sign up for the swap 773-935-0585
*Details for both can be found in my last QuicKutz post*

I've been feeling a little bogged down by stuff lately and am in the mood to clear out the clutter and start from scratch in terms of the space around my desk. So, the other night, I took everything off the bulletin boards above my desk, to regroup and then, I decided, why not slap it all onto a collage/layout and be done with it!?! So, that's what I did.
Here's a photo of what the space looked like before:

And, here is what it looks like now. Clear (for the most part).

And, finally, my layout. It's a wonderful mixture of the ephemera of my life right now. Things that I've been saving for layouts, or just to remember. A note from my Dad encouraging me to finish my dissertation. A photo of my "happy place" from childhood. My "words" for 2007 and 2008 from the "One little word" project. A note from my Aunt. Stuff. I journaled on the back of the chipboard house and this will go straight into my album. A documentation of my life right now, done. Sometimes, to find inspiration you just have to give yourself a little space.

I LOVE Maya Mists! Especially the Pearl and metallic colors. Below is one way I use my Pearl Maya Mist to boost the impact of basic embellishments. I use this technique to add little bling to my projects!

1. Choose your accent. I tend to keep the sticker on the package backing until I am ready to use it.
2. Lightly spray the Maya Mist on the embellishment. Start slow and layer if needed. Beware! Maya Mist are a bit messy so have a non-stick craft mat protecting your work space.
3. When the Maya Mist is dry use your embellishment on your project!
I love to use this technique with letter stickers, die cuts, and even on patterned paper to kick it up a notch. Start playing today! Click here for a Maya Mist coupon!

Welcome to the new QuicKutz Thursday. Every week I will be going over tips, techniques and anything else QuicKutz (and maybe a few Sizzix things along the way) First things first though, we need a catchy title for my posts. "QuicKutz Thursday" is not what I had in mind when I decided to share my love for QK. If you would like a chance to win some blog candy post your idea of a title and if I chose your idea I will have some goodies waiting for you here at WCS next time you stop in. I will give you until next Thursday October 22nd to get your idea in. In addition to comments for title ideas I would love to hear ideas for what you would like to see me talk about on here.
